Project Nursery: Rocker & Stuffed Friends

We now have furniture in the nursery, well a piece of furniture! My parents generously bought this beautiful rocker for us and Mr. Baby Fever put it together over the weekend. I can't wait to read our little guy bedtime stories from this rocker, but for now his stuffed friends (from Etsy seller Cuore) will be hanging out there.

Project Nursery: Paint Colors

Who knew that picking paint colors for a nursery could be so difficult! There are way too many options but yet finding the perfect matching shade seems impossible. It's also difficult to imagine what the room will look like based off a tiny little paint swatch. After many hours of browsing paint swatches, we've finally picked the perfect paint colors...well I hope so because the painting will commence on Wednesday! We will be using Serwin-William's Gray Matters as our primary color and Watery (a light bluish color) on an accent wall (all no-VOC). Wish us luck!

Project Nursery: Rugs

I'm in love, love, love with this hopscotch rug from CB2!! The only problem is that I'm leaning towards painting the walls a greyish color with a bluish grey accent wall. I figure that the grey walls will tone down this super colorful room, but will a grey rug be too much grey? I'm also not convinced that it will fit in with my woodland creature motif, but it is just so dang cute! I was also contemplating doing a green shag rug, which will definitely bring in more of a nature feel to the room. That might actually be better because our furbabies tend to claw up rugs that aren't shag, not that they'll be allowed in the nursery. Maybe I'll just have to wait and see what the room looks like after it's painted. Decisions, decisions...

20 Week Doctor's Appointment

I had a routine doctor's appointment today and everything is looking great. I'm down 2 lbs since my last appointment...don't ask me how I managed to do that?! I'm still eating and working out the same. I'm still right where I need to be weight wise so my doctor is happy and I'm happy. Our little guy was hiding from the doppler so my doctor did a quick u/s to check his hear rate (it was 158 and perfect) and he was wiggling around (sooo cute!). My plan is to wait until after our 2nd anatomy u/s (we didn't get all the shots we needed at the 1st) before we make any decisions regarding a home birth.

In other news, we're making progress on our nursery. We now have bedding for our little guy!! My awesome mom bought the fab Skip Hop Mod Dots collection for us and it was recently delivered. It is so much cuter in person, I just love the colors and the pattern!

Project Nursery: Idea Board

Project Nursery is in full swing in our household and I'm loving every minute of planning for our little guy's arrival. I've felt more and more flutters this week so I'm thinking that he also likes his nursery plans. I look forward to showing him his room for the first time and watching him grow up in that room. Ok, I officially can't write a post about our son without getting misty eyed...dang pregnancy hormones! My idea is a modern nursery in primary colors (red, blue, green, yellow, brown) with woodland creature accents. It's a little different and unique, which I love!

Mustard Yellow & Pink Nursery

Thank you for helping me think pink yesterday, I think I finally have a girl nursery plan that I LOVE! If we have a girl, we'll be going with the mustard yellow and pink scheme (with birdie accents of course). I'm actually really, really, really excited about this plan and equally as excited about my boy nursery plan! I just can't wait to start decorating our nursery. It feels like it has taken an eternity to get to this point and now that we are finally here, it just feels surreal! Do I really get to start decorating our nursery after tomorrow?!

On a more serious note, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. The anatomy ultrasound is important for so many reasons (not just to find out the gender) and I'm anxious to hear that this baby is healthy.

Still Thinking Pink

Remember my Girl Nursery Post from yesterday? Well, I like that idea but I'm not sure if I LOVE it. I told you I was indecisive with all things girl related. Naturally, because of this, I will most likely be having a girl lol. Lately I've been thinking more and more about doing a mustard and pink color scheme. I have this unnatural obsession with mustard yellow but I'm afraid that it is only a temporary obsession and after a year I will hate it (although I can't see that happening right now). I want something that our little girl (if that is what we are having) will be able to grow into.

After several hundred (thousands?) of searches for the perfect girl crib bedding, I've returned empty handed. That is when I decided that I will have a fabulous Etsy seamstress custom make our bedding and the search for the perfect fabric commenced. Going with the two color schemes that I like, I'm trying to decide between this fabrics by the fab Amy Butler:

(Option 1) Pinks, blues and yellows (the blues don't match in the pic but I've *heard* that they match in person):

Our Girl Nursery

I secretly love that Mr. Baby Fever responds "that's nice" to everything nursery related I show him, because that means I can do whatever I want in there within our budget. After Thursday, project nursery will be full speed ahead. That room has been empty far too long and I'm excited to get started!

So with that said, I can't exactly walk into that ultrasound room on Thursday without a girl theme when I have a boy theme all ready to go. We'll already be walking in there without a girl name and seeing as how I dreamt it was a girl, I need to put my pink thinking cap on.

I *think* I've finally decided on a nursery idea for a little girl. This is an extremely rough draft of my idea and I reserve the right to make a million modifications to it. Because I'm not really into themey nurseries (not that these aren't cute, they just aren't for me), my girl nursery will draw its inspiration from Amy Butler's Midwest Modern fabric. I picture lots of pinks, yellows and blues with birdie accents. I give you my (very very rough draft) girl nursery idea board...

Thinking Pink

I've been so indecisive about everything girl - we don't have a name set in stone yet and I have no idea what I'll be doing in the nursery. It's not that I want a boy over a girl, we would be happy with either sex but for some reason I'm having a difficult time deciding on anything girl related. Mr. Baby Fever and I both had dreams that we're having a girl so I better start thinking pink.

For the nursery, I do know that I want some pink and maybe some aqua/blue accents. I also want to add birdie accents but I don't want it to be bird themed. I've been searching and searching for girlie bedding but I haven't found the perfect crib bedding yet. I was just browsing Serena & Lily (I'm in love with this shop!) and came across the most gorgeous bedding, but still haven't found "the one"...

Our Boy Nursery

When we first started looking at new homes a few years ago, we would walk through the model homes and we would picture our life in that home. We envisioned our future with children and picked our home with that thought in the back of our minds. Our conversations often turned to, "this room would be our nursery" or "this neighborhood would be great for children".

When we moved into our current home, we designated a room as the nursery and literally shut the door and never walked in there until just recently. For awhile there I considered turning the room into something else because even walking by the shut door would make me feel sad and disappointed, but I knew that I would always think of it as the "nursery" and changing that would be too painful for me. I finally opened the door just a couple weeks ago and just sat on the bare floor, thinking about how all of our hopes and dreams are finally coming true. I imagined what it would be like to bring our baby home to this room and how I would soon be spending tons of time in this room that I couldn't even walk in a few months ago.

We find out the sex on March 11th (a month from today!) and I'm looking forward to decorating our nursery after that point. I want our child to look back at all of our planning and hoping, and to think about how much he/she is loved. It might be a little early to start nursery plans but for me it has been a long time coming, so I give you our boy nursery inspiration (maybe, I have way to many ideas)...
