16 Weeks: Avocado

"Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender."

How far along? 16wks & 6 days!

Maternity clothes? I'm still in that awful in between stage but I managed to find a cute maternity shirt today at Target that doesn't make me look frumpy. I'm definitely starting to pop!

Stretch marks? No stretch marks and I'm applying anti-stretch mark cream.

Sleep? No more puking in the middle of the night (YAY!) but I can't seem to get comfy enough to sleep through the night. Sleeping on my back and my right side now officially hurts.

Best moment this week? We had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and heard the best sound ever - the swoosh, swoosh, swoosh of our little one's heartbeat. The baby's heartbeat was in the 150's and absolutely perfect. I fall more and more in love with this baby everyday!

Movement? I have been feeling flutters all week long!! This can't be gas, right?! I can't wait to feel a full on kick!

Food cravings? I craved eggs and peaches for the majority of my 1st trimester and now that I'm in my 2nd trimester, I'm obsessed with all fruit but addicted to mangoes!!

Gender? I was thinking boy in the beginning but now I'm thinking girl after a recent u/s dream. I truly don't care, I just hope for a healthy baby. We find out on March 11th!

Labor signs? Nope.

What I miss? Hot Chocolate. I've cut way back on caffeine, including chocolate, and have only had hot chocolate once while pregnant.

What I'm looking forward to? Another hospital tour this weekend and meeting with a potential midwife on Monday.

Weekly Wisdom: Prenatal massages are heavenly, definitely get one if you can!

Milestones: We heard the heartbeat for the first time at the doctor's office!

Emotions: I have no idea what was wrong with me on Thursday but I couldn't stop crying! Don't worry, I'm back to normal now!

  1. Yay for 16 weeks - and 17 tomorrow!! Sleeping and nausea are still issues for me too - I'm glad you're feeling better though. How exciting to feel movement. I've begun analyzing every twinge but I can't really distinguish one from another yet. My trick is to get not really maternity clothes - flowy long tops from Ann taylor or wherever that i'm pretty sure will last me a couple more months. There are so many maternity-esque styles these days. Buy em a size bigger if you have to.

  3. You've had hospital tours? How did you sign up? I thought that just came with the birthing class at the hospital!

  4. Katie - I signed up through the hospital website or you can call them, just like you sign up for the birthing class I believe. We're not planning on taking the birthing class through the hospital because we're already signed up for a Bradley class so we wanted to check out our hospital options :)
